The Ground Beneath Our Feet project sites were created using two tools: Performant's Core Data Cloud and Tina CMS.
Core Data Cloud lets scholars and students develop custom relational data models. Every Ground Beneath Our Feet Project is place-based, but they focus on different aspects of place. Accordingly, each project begins by scholars identifying the elements they would like to examine in relation to Place, which may include People, Media, Organizations, Ontologies, or other data models. Scholars then develop these models to include the information and relationships they would like to capture and then work with students to enter data into these models.
Tina CMS provides a way to publish data to the websites that you see. The maps are components that provide one way to navigate the Places entered into Core Data Cloud and to filter the data in the models. Some sites also have "Posts" and "Paths" which are essentially blog posts or walking tours that can embed Places from Core Data using custom components.
